We are incredibly proud to have achieved our Reading Schools accreditation through the Early Learning and Childcare pilot scheme. Being part of this exciting pilot gave us the opportunity to further develop a strong culture of reading for pleasure across our whole nursery community, ensuring that books, stories, songs and rhymes are an enjoyable and meaningful part of our children’s everyday experiences.
Throughout our Reading Schools journey, we introduced daily Bookbug sessions, enhanced our reading spaces and resources, developed our Reading Buddies, strengthened our links with our local library and welcomed authors and special visitors into the nursery to share stories with our children. Families and staff also played an important part in our journey, taking part in shared reading experiences, celebrations and special events both within the nursery and at home. Most importantly, our children were at the heart of the process, with their voices, ideas and interests helping to shape the experiences we provided. Achieving our Reading Schools accreditation is a wonderful recognition of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our children, families and staff, and we are excited to continue building on this achievement and nurturing a lifelong love of reading.
